Prices depend on how busy the area is — Rate A for the highest-demand districts, Rate B elsewhere — and on your vehicle's environmental label.

When you have to pay

As a general rule, regulated spaces are paid Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 20:00 without a midday break. In the city centre the rule also applies on Saturdays, and in beach areas on Sundays and public holidays too.

The maximum stay is whatever the sign by the space says: on Rate A blue streets it can be one or two hours, on Rate B two hours. When the time is up you have to move the car, not just pay again.

How to pay

Use the parking meter, which prints a ticket for the windscreen, or an authorised app. SMOU, the city's own app, lets you pay digitally and charges only for the time actually used.

Driving in with a foreign car?

Parking and the low-emission zone are separate systems.

Before driving into the zone, check the foreign-vehicle register.

Do you need a car at all?

For most visits the answer is no: the metro covers the centre, and a T-dia gives 24 hours of unlimited travel for €12 (which pass to buy). If you are flying in, the airport-to-centre guide compares the Aerobús, metro, train and taxi.

How much is blue zone parking in Barcelona?
From €1.15 to €3.75 an hour, depending on the zone's rate (A or B) and your car's environmental label; zero-emission cars pay least.
Is street parking free on Sundays in Barcelona?
In most regulated areas, yes: the general rule is Monday to Friday, plus Saturdays in the centre. Beach areas also charge on Sundays and public holidays. Always check the sign.
Can visitors park in green zones?
Yes, at the non-resident rate, from €1.40 to €4.25 an hour; green zones give priority to residents.
