Public holidays in Catalonia 2026 and 2027, town by town

Catalonia has 12 public holidays (bank holidays) a year that apply everywhere, and every town adds local holidays of its own, usually two. Here are the Catalonia-wide dates for 2026 and 2027, and the 2026 local holidays of 29 towns: the largest cities and the main resorts. Each town has a page of its own, with every holiday of the year, whether today is a holiday there and the Sundays and holidays when shops may open.

In Aran one of these days is swapped for the Festa d'Aran on 17 June: in 2026 it replaces Saturday 26 December, Saint Stephen's Day; in 2027 it replaces Monday 29 March, Easter Monday.

The 2027 Catalonia-wide holidays make 8 long weekends: all of them, with the days of leave to book, are in long weekends 2027 in Catalonia.

Local holidays in 2026, town by town

Each town's local holidays come on top of the Catalonia-wide days above. Dates from Order EMT/208/2025 (DOGC, 17 December 2025), as amended by Order EMT/3/2026 (DOGC, 20 January 2026).

Malgrat de Mar, one of the selected towns, has no local holidays in the 2026 order: the order lists it as "proposta no formulada" (the council made no proposal in time), and the January 2026 amendment did not change that, so it has no page.

The towns are the 11 largest by population on 1 January 2025 (Idescat), the four provincial capitals among them, and the 19 with the most places in the Generalitat's register of tourist accommodation (hotels, campsites, rural tourism, tourist flats and homes). They are the same towns as our election results in English.

The Catalan and Spanish editions cover all 917 towns with local holidays in 2026, with a table for each comarca: in Catalan, in Spanish. The local holidays for 2027 have not been published yet; the order for 2026 appeared in the DOGC on 17 December 2025. The councils of Barcelona (17 May and 24 September), L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (17 May and 24 September), Badalona (11 and 17 May), Lleida (11 May and 29 September), Mataró (17 May and 27 July), Reus (29 June and 25 September), Girona (26 July and 29 October), Blanes (30 March and 26 July), Vila-seca (18 January and 3 August) and Roses (5 and 8 February) have already approved theirs, pending the order.
